Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON, RN)
About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and overseeing the daily functions of the Nursing Service Department. The ADON helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards to maintain high-quality resident care, as directed by the Executive Director, Medical Director, or Director of Health Services. The position works with the DON to select, retain, develop, and lead the clinical team; coordinates nursing and ancillary services with other department leaders to support continuity of residents’ care; and helps implement the clinical staffing model. Administrative duties may include completing medical forms, reports, audits, evaluations, and charting. The ADON also participates in the facility’s QAPI program and prepares for facility surveys and accreditation programs.
Requirements
- Associate degree or advanced degree in Nursing.
- Must have and maintain a current, valid state RN license.
- Must have and maintain current, valid CPR certification.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the DON to help select, retain, develop, and lead the clinical team.
- Assist in coordinating nursing and ancillary services with other department leaders to ensure continuity of residents’ total regimen of care.
- Assist in implementing the clinical staffing model and perform administrative duties, including completing medical forms, reports, audits, evaluations, and charting as necessary.
- Participate in implementing and maintaining the company’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Participate in and prepare for facility surveys and accreditation programs conducted by authorized regulatory agencies and/or the company.
