About The Position

Heritage Specialty Care, a 171-bed long-term care skilled nursing community located in Cedar Rapids, IA, is now hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Registered Nurse (RN) to support clinical leadership and high-quality resident care. This Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) role is ideal for a motivated Registered Nurse (RN) seeking leadership growth, mentorship, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a skilled nursing facility (SNF). Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Iowa (or ability to obtain)
  • Current, valid CPR Certification
  • Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in skilled nursing or long-term care preferred
  • Leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, ADON) preferred
  • Desire to learn, grow, and develop as part of a quality-focused clinical leadership team
  • Strong commitment to resident-centered, compassionate care

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, organizing, and directing nursing department operations
  • Conduct regular clinical rounds to monitor care delivery, identify opportunities for improvement, and help implement solutions
  • Enforce facility policies while encouraging professional development and team accountability
  • Support, coach, and mentor RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to promote teamwork and high-quality care
  • Manage administrative and operational functions to improve department efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care needs and concerns
  • Ensure accurate documentation that meets clinical, regulatory, and facility standards
  • Maintain infection control, safety, and compliance practices
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team
