About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of IT Support within the Information Technology department at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. This role reports to the Director of IT Operations and provides operational leadership for the Service Desk, Field Support, and Endpoint Lifecycle Management teams. The primary goal is to ensure responsive, reliable, and customer-centered IT services for students, faculty, staff, medical professionals, and community members. The Assistant Director is responsible for setting service expectations, supporting staff development, monitoring performance, and driving improvements to enhance the technology support experience. Collaboration with the school’s associated clinical practice, UNLV Health, campus partners, and IT colleagues is essential to ensure efficient, consistent services aligned with the needs of the school and UNLV Health. The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Information Technology Department is dedicated to high-quality service, collaboration, and continuous improvement in support of the school’s academic, clinical, and operational missions. The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV is focused on improving health outcomes in Nevada through education, research, and patient care, with a strong emphasis on community engagement. The school is recognized for its research in areas such as brain health, Alzheimer’s disease, and lupus. Its associated practice plan, UNLV Health, serves a significant number of patients monthly. By expanding medical education programs, the school aims to address Nevada's physician shortage and strengthen the state's healthcare workforce. This leadership position involves working with a diverse group of IT professionals and ensuring support services meet departmental goals, customer needs, and operational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience in higher education, medical school, or another professional program.
  • Experience managing Service Desk, Field Support, and/or endpoint support services.
  • Experience developing and implementing service delivery strategies, operational procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing technical support staff and team leads.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years in management, supervisory and related experience.
  • ITIL Certificate
  • Microsoft Fundamentals (MCSE, MOS, etc.)
