About The Position

BASIC PURPOSE: Recruitment of students in support of the mission of the University. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 2 years of admissions/enrollment or related professional experience.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, including overnight travel as required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • A passion for working towards educational equity.
  • Familiarity with the barriers to access and success in higher education system.
  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience working the college/university setting.
  • Spanish speaking.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience working with students and families from underrepresented backgrounds, and community-based organizations.
  • Experience with relational databases and research methodology helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Independent management of a predefined and assigned Recruitment territory. This includes all aspects of travel planning, visits and fairs, building relationships, etc.
  • Evaluates the qualifications of prospective students and makes admissions and scholarship decisions, as well as participate in Admissions Committee consideration of borderline candidates.
  • Represents the University with an advanced understanding of the University mission and strategic objectives.
  • Conducts personal interviews with prospective students in order to familiarize them with the University’s programs and policies and to assess their interests and goals.
  • Makes presentations promoting the University to various groups.
  • Assesses students’ requests for financial aid and makes recommendations for scholarships and grants on the basis of scholarship, character and financial need. Conduct financial aid counseling at level above the basic level of admissions counselors.
  • Work with the VPEM, AVPEM and Student Financial Services to find ways to make Assumption affordable and attractive to students of all wealth profiles and to minimize barriers to entry.
  • Work collaboratively with the Enrollment Management and Student Success teams to support the success of all students.
  • Usher students through the enrollment and onboarding processes with the highest level of attention and care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including partnership development.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes.
  • Interacts on a daily basis with prospective and current students, parents, alumni, high school representatives, University community, athletics, vendors and professional organizations of higher education.
  • Travels for a minimum of 4 months each year making approximately 250 visits to high schools, conventions, and fairs
