About The Position

The Assistant Director, Nursing supports the Chief Nursing Officer in planning, directing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the delivery of quality nursing care provided by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Mental Health Techs. This role assists with the management of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health nursing services to ensure safe, effective, patient-centered care in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. The Assistant Director, Nursing assists with staffing, quality assurance, regulatory readiness, staff development, and clinical operations. This position serves as a key member of the nursing leadership team and may act on behalf of the Director of Nursing in their absence, as assigned. The Assistant Director, Nursing contributes to interdisciplinary treatment planning, nursing practice improvement, and the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Investigation.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Four (4) years’ of psychiatric nursing experience required, including supervisory or charge nurse experience.
  • Ability to deal with diverse and stress related situations in a calm manner.
  • Must have good organizational and computer technical skills and have the ability to set priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health nursing operations, patient care delivery, and clinical leadership in an inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Helps maintain compliance with licensing, regulatory, and accreditation requirements related to nursing services and patient care.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of short- and long-term nursing initiatives, projects, and improvement plans.
  • Assists in monitoring patient care practices to promote safety, therapeutic milieu, and quality outcomes in the behavioral health setting.
  • Supports risk management, patient safety, and ligature risk reduction efforts throughout the facility.
  • Assists with recruitment, interviewing, orientation, training, and ongoing development of nursing staff as assigned.
