About The Position

Westminster Woods on Julington Creek is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to oversee and direct nursing care for residents and supervise daily nursing activities in RRU and Skilled Nursing. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation.

The ADON directs nursing staff on the assigned unit, supports care planning and clinical services, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and oversees resident care activities and documentation. The position also monitors unit performance, addresses resident and family concerns, supports staff development and evaluations, and reports significant issues to the Director of Nursing.

Requirements

• Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Florida.
• CPR certification.
• At least three years of long-term care experience as a staff nurse.
• At least six months of experience as a nurse leader in direct or indirect care.
• Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept guidance.
• Ability to deal tactfully with employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel, and the general public.
• Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
• Supervisory leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with applicable rules, policies, standards, and guidelines related to employment with Westminster Services and its communities.
• Direct and supervise daily nursing staff functions on the assigned unit in accordance with rules and regulations governing the Skilled Nursing Facility.
• Ensure nursing personnel in the assigned care area follow facility policies and procedures.
• Participate in updating and reviewing care plans, including goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs.
• Provide professional nursing services when needed within the scope of practice.
• Meet with assigned nursing staff to plan shift services, programs, and activities, and monitor completion of assigned duties.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to maintain each resident’s total regimen of care.
• Manage the quality and accuracy of the EHR for residents and staff under the ADON’s oversight.
• Manage and improve unit performance metrics reported by the facility, including falls, FAPU, quality measures, and rehospitalizations.
• Oversee the quality of resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Participate in orienting new residents and family members to the unit.
• Conduct daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care and report significant events.
• Address resident and family issues in a timely manner and report significant issues to the Director of Nursing.
• Communicate with healthcare practitioners to review treatment plans and complete orders and progress notes in accordance with established policies.
• Oversee completion of resident accident and incident reports and report them to the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete monthly recapitulations for physician signature and report discrepancies to the Director of Nursing.
• Ensure adequate supplies of floor-stock medications, supplies, and equipment are available for resident care.
• Conduct employee performance evaluations.
• Make recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding employee discipline, dismissal, or transfers.
