About The Position

With intermediate supervision from the Director of University Financial Aid Compliance, this position delivers counseling services to current and prospective students and their families regarding the financial aid process, procedures, and program rules, including information about all federal, state, private, and institutional loan, grant and work programs. This position is responsible for assisting with the undergraduate caseload of students including preliminary review and processing of financial aid applications, maintenance of all financial aid records, and for written and verbal communication with students to ensure the highest standards of customer/client services and support established procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies. The Main Campus Office of Student Financial Services provides counseling and application processing services to 14,500 potential and current undergraduate and graduate applicants for aid each year. Most clients make multiple inquiries or visits per year. The Office of Student Financial Services manages an active caseload of 9,300 clients each year (currently enrolled students) and administers $300 million each year in Main Campus scholarship, loan, and work programs. Each caseload manages approximately 1,250 financial aid applicants each year. Activities include application processing/audit, financial counseling, monitoring enrollment status, and review of requests for additional aid in unusual or emergency circumstances. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Part-time or full-time work experience with counseling, customer service, and/or administrative support.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and to use independent judgment where appropriate
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a diverse client population
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer services.
  • Experience with and knowledge of PC based administrative software.

Nice To Haves

  • Any combination of experience with Ellucian’s Banner, COGNOS, and/or Microsoft Office.
