About The Position

The University of Texas at Austin's Facilities Services department is seeking an Assistant Director for Training to manage training, quality assurance, and process improvement programs within Custodial Services. This is a full-time, exempt position with a 40-hour work week, located in Austin, TX. The role involves leading a large department of 449 members across various shifts and requires occasional travel. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Relevant supervisory experience.
  • Experience training frontline employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and as an individual contributor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the OS1 Cleaning Program and familiarity with work loading and process compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct subordinate staff, develop and communicate performance metrics, and attend meetings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate training, assess training needs, develop, write, review, present, and document various trainings, communications, and staff development programs. Be willing to teach a group of employees and occasionally work varying shifts (day, evening, weekends) and in excess of eight hours.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct a quality assurance program to ensure cleaning services meet established standards, interpret quality assurance philosophy, develop new approaches to solve problems, and keep the management team informed of significant issues and actions.
  • Gather information to evaluate current work processes, determine workflow, time requirements, costs, and duration. Develop strategies and programs to improve productivity and efficiency, and aid employee teams in building cohesiveness and improving results.
  • Ensure maintenance of training records, edit and publish information such as presentations, training schedules, newsletters, reports, and operating procedures. Coordinate training with other University of Texas organizations and departments.
  • Train instructors, inspectors, analysts, and supervisory staff in areas like New Employee Orientation, on-the-job training, cleaning processes, and department policies. Coordinate the department's training-related travel.
