About The Position

The Assistant Director, Email Marketing Strategist plays a key role in shaping and advancing the organization’s email marketing strategy to drive measurable business outcomes. This individual contributor role requires a strategic, self‑directed marketer with deep expertise in email best practices, audience segmentation, deliverability, and performance measurement. The ideal candidate will partner closely with business stakeholders to develop measurable data‑driven strategies, optimize a wide variety of campaigns with a goal of driving engagement and conversion, and ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of email marketing strategy with demonstrated success in leveraging the channel to drive measurable results.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management; ability to navigate challenging conversations and drive alignment.
  • Comfortable influencing senior leaders.
  • Expert at advanced segmentation and targeting; comfortable driving a personalization strategy using behavioral/demographic insights.
  • Adept in navigating email deliverability, including list hygiene and reputation awareness.
  • Expert in performance measurement and storytelling: KPI frameworks, dashboards/visualizations, insights and recommendations using platforms such as Tableau and Google Analytics.
  • Deep experience in ESP/marketing automation platforms and tools (preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
  • Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS/ampscript; knowledge of SQL preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in email marketing with proven experience leading strategy.

  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries, with an understanding of compliance-driven marketing environments preferred.

  • Operate as a subject-matter expert and strategic advisor to business partners; bring forward proactive opportunities.
  • Clearly communicate progress, risks, and recommendations throughout project execution; drive alignment across teams.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships; influence conversations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with business partners to review performance and ensure alignment on campaigns.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks; analyze trends, identify insights, and recommend optimizations to stakeholders.
  • Build performance narratives (dashboards/visualizations) that connect email performance to business goals and decision-making.
  • Leverage marketing automation capabilities to drive lifecycle outcomes.
  • Develop and refine segmentation and targeting strategies using behavioral and demographic data to maximize engagement and conversion.
  • Advance personalization and relevance through dynamic content and audience-led messaging approaches.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for at least one vendor, supporting the email channel with segmentation, scoring or deliverability.
  • Monitor platform performance and be seen as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal teams regarding capabilities, best practices, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Martech team and vendors to stay informed about new features, updates, and opportunities for innovation.
