About The Position

The Learning Experience – Dedham is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director to join our early childhood leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified childcare leader who enjoys developing teachers, supporting families, and helping manage the daily operations of a high-quality early childhood education center. Working closely with the Center Director, you’ll play an important role in maintaining strong classroom standards, licensing compliance, staffing, enrollment, and family satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Director I & Director II qualifications required
  • Previous leadership experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education program required
  • Professional early childhood teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing requirements
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing teaching teams
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working with both current and prospective families
  • Must meet all applicable Massachusetts EEC requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Center Director to oversee daily center operations
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of teaching staff
  • Create and manage staff schedules while maintaining appropriate classroom ratios
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching and performance feedback
  • Support teachers in implementing The Learning Experience’s L.E.A.P. Curriculum
  • Ensure compliance with Massachusetts EEC licensing, health, and safety requirements
  • Maintain required staff, classroom, and licensing documentation
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and teaching teams
  • Conduct center tours and support prospective families throughout the enrollment process
  • Support enrollment growth, family engagement, and retention
  • Assist with resolving day-to-day staff and family concerns
  • Help foster a positive culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth
  • Step in to support classrooms and center operations when needed
