About The Position

This position is for a Research Assistant within the Faculty of Health Sciences, specifically in the Research unit of the School of Nursing. The role involves supporting a research project focused on chronic diseases within Black communities. The work will include data collection, analysis, community engagement, and contributing to scientific reports and publications. The position is for the Spring/Summer 2026 semester, with a total of 80 work hours.

Requirements

Experience collaborating with community organizations of Black people or working with Black communities.
Significant contribution to a community-based research project, including data planning, collection, and management.
Proficiency in literature review methods, including designing and implementing database search strategies.
Ability to process, analyze, and interpret quantitative and/or qualitative data rigorously.
Capacity to mobilize and engage members of Black communities through various communication channels (including social media) for dialogue activities, both virtually and in person, on chronic diseases.
Coordinate research assistant tasks with the principal investigator.
Actively participate in writing, revising, and preparing scientific reports/publications.
Participate in organizing dialogue sessions (virtual and in-person) between health professionals and members of Black communities on chronic diseases (e.g., Diabetes).

Nice To Haves

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

Responsibilities

Faire état d’une expérience avérée de collaboration avec des organismes communautaires de personnes noires ou œuvrant auprès des communautés noires
Avoir contribué de manière significative à un projet de recherche en milieu communautaire, notamment en matière de planification, de collecte et de gestion des données
Démontrer une maîtrise des méthodes de recherche documentaire, incluant la conception et la mise en œuvre de stratégies d’interrogation de bases de données
Assurer le traitement, l’analyse et l’interprétation rigoureuse de données quantitatives et/ou qualitatives
Témoigner d’une capacité à mobiliser et à engager les membres des communautés noires, par divers canaux de communication (incluant les médias sociaux), dans des activités de dialogue, en modes virtuel et présentiel, portant sur les maladies chroniques
Coordonner avec le chercheur principal, les tâches des assistant.e.s de recherche
Participer activement à la rédaction, à la révision et à la préparation de rapports/ publications scientifiques
Participer à organiser des séances de dialogue (modes virtuel et présentiel) entre des professionnel.le.s de la santé et des membres des communautés noires sur les maladies chroniques (ex. Diabète)
