About The Position

The Assistant Community Banking Manager plays a vital role in advancing our mission as a community bank committed to financial wellness and customer-defined success. Collaborate, coach, and manage the branch team to execute an aligned sales and customer experience strategy. Translate strategic priorities into clear, achievable daily actions for the team. Perform and manage all aspects of the Consumer Lending and Account Opening functions. Responsible for pipeline management and business results through formalized management routines and consistently inspects, supports, and coaches the branded sales process to proactively achieve sales targets. Promote team atmosphere to ensure high-quality levels of sales production and customer service. Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making to serve the customer and protect the bank from loss. Identify and coach opportunities and make referrals to other areas within the Bank (e.g. Cash Management, Commercial Lending, Mortgage, Money Management Group, etc.). Develop community relationships through social and/or bank-sponsored activities. Accountable for oversight of branch operations and audit processes to minimize risk and maintain compliance. Lead effective problem resolution, inclusive of acting as a point of escalation for the branch team Drive employee experience to include recruiting, training, coaching, and leading the performance management process. Responsible for the continued professional development of the branch team. Develop team members through intentional, structured coaching and ongoing feedback. Demonstrate proficiency with creating and analyzing reports. Perform transaction processing duties if needed. Serve as acting Community Banking Manager during leadership vacancies or absences, providing operational oversight, team supervision, and cross-branch support to ensure continuity of service and achievement of performance goals. Complete other duties that may be assigned by management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven skills in banking or financial services, including direct exposure to retail banking operations, sales, customer relationship management, and risk/compliance practices.
  • Proven skills in people leadership, which may include assistant manager, team lead, or supervisory responsibilities. Experience must reflect true leadership ownership—not solely task delegation—including:
  • Ongoing coaching and performance development
  • Conducting performance conversations and providing constructive feedback
  • Supporting employee growth, engagement, and accountability
  • Leading through change and operational adjustments
  • Strong working knowledge of branch operations, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and customer service standards within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to think adaptively and make sound decisions in a dynamic branch environment, balancing customer needs, employee development, operational risk, and business performance goals.
  • Proven record of achieving individual and team performance goals while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
  • NMLS registration required or must be obtained within 6 months role acceptance.
  • Successful completion of all required Transaction Processing, Account Opening, Consumer Lending, and IRA required training and obtainment of completion certificates.
