About The Position

Penn State Schuylkill, a member of the USCAA and Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC), is seeking a part-time Assistant Coach for the Cross Country and Track and Field Team. This role involves assisting the head coach with all facets of the program, with a key focus on evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and talented student-athletes.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Coaching or playing experience at the high school level.
• Proficient communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
• Knowledge of USCAA and PSUAC student-athlete and institutional compliance rules and rules governing the play of various games.
• Event and personnel management experience.
• PA State Police Criminal Background Check.
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form.
• Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• Collegiate coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with practice and competition coaching.
• Assist with the recruitment of academically qualified and skilled student-athletes.
• Help to arrange weekly practice schedules on the field.
• Help to provide vision and leadership to create a positive team culture.
• Provide feedback for the Director of Athletics to nominate and select weekly/season conference and national awards.
• Assist with the development of opportunities to participate in service activities and encourage participation in community service.
• Use these opportunities to teach life lessons about respect, hard work, the value of education, and service to others.
