About The Position

Provide assistance to the Head Coach in training student athletes who participate in the University sports program and administering the sports program as required. This role involves planning and conducting team and individual practice and training sessions, assisting with event scheduling, travel arrangements, budget management, home event management, and facility use. The position also includes recruiting athletically and academically qualified student athletes, developing recruiting areas and networks, and monitoring academic eligibility. The Assistant Coach is expected to represent Loyola Marymount University (LMU) positively within the LMU and extended community, assist with fundraising, marketing, and promotional activities, develop community involvement, and participate in public relations and LMU Summer Camp programs. Additionally, the role requires providing leadership within the Athletic Department by encouraging support for athletic programs and attending events. Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is mandatory, including participating in annual evaluations of adherence to these rules with the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 3 years coaching expertise and teaching experience in progressively responsible positions
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: Sports skills, Teaching and Training techniques, Organizational skills, Personnel management and staff development, Financial planning, Interpersonal skills, Computer Skills, NCAA rules
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
  • Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of word processing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Athletic Department by encouraging support of Athletic programs and actively supporting teams with attendance at events.
  • Complete all rules compliance information as required.
  • Participate in an annual evaluation of adherence to rules compliance with immediate supervisor.
