About The Position

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the part-time seasonal/intermittent Assistant Volleyball coach position. This role is an 11-month position that will assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches in all aspects of coaching, including instruction of student-athletes, recruiting of prospective student-athletes, and all NCAA and Ivy League Conference administrative requirements. The position requires exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations, with duties performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations. Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.

Requirements

  • Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League Rules.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication & computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students.
  • Excellent sport specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, internet and email capabilities.
  • Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game and ability to coach and motivate.
  • Must complete a criminal background, education and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
  • Must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting.
  • Must maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Collegiate, professional, high school, or club sports coaching experience.
  • Social media experience.
  • Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks, or similar.
  • Prior experience with video editing software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches in all aspects of coaching.
  • Instruction of student-athletes.

  • Manage all NCAA and Ivy League Conference administrative requirements.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Report any known rules violations to the compliance office and appropriate parties.
