Assistant Volleyball Coach
About The Position
A passionate and competent assistant coach to support the Head Volleyball Coach in all aspects of program management, student-athlete development, recruiting, and daily operations. The assistant coach should assist in building a positive team environment and ensure students, facilities and training equipment is adequately prepared while being organized and dutifully supporting the head coach. The Assistant Volleyball coach assists the Head Volleyball Coach with the coordination and preparation of the university's volleyball team, participating in the Great American Conference as an NCAA Division II institution while fostering a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture aligned with the mission of East Central University Volleyball.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills required
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the competitive schedule
- Must meet all East Central University, Great American Conference, and NCAA Division II employment requirements
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree preferred
- Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience, including graduate assistant experience, preferred
- Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations, recruiting operations, and student-athlete development
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively contribute to a competitive team culture
- Experience with video analysis software, recruiting databases, and social media engagement preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while supporting the mission and values of East Central University Athletics
Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruiting efforts including communication with prospective student athletes and families
- Organize campus visits and recruiting follow-up communication
- Evaluate prospective student-athletes through film review and tournament recruiting
- Maintain recruiting databases and recruiting communication
- Assists with monitoring the academic progress of student athletes to ensure NCAA compliance
- Scout opponents and assist with scouting reports and match preparation
- Assists with film breakdown with an understanding of VolleyMetrics
- Assists with planning practices and preparing for matches
- Assists with equipment inventory
- Assists with all compliance forms and record keeping
- Assist with budget oversight
- Assist with social media content creation and branding initiatives
- Attends community service events for both the volleyball program and the athletic department
- Assists with game management as needed
- Assist with fundraising and increase program visibility and enhance community support
