Requirements

Submit an application for an Athletic Coaching Certification with the Florida Department of Education.
Apply to become an Athletic Coach through the district's website.
Complete orientation, including fingerprinting/workplace screening ($118.00 fee).
Obtain either a Three-Year or Five-Year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate if not holding a valid Florida Educator's Certificate.
For a Three-Year Certificate: Submit application and $75.00 fee to Florida Department of Education; be approved to volunteer and complete fingerprinting.
For a Five-Year Certificate: Submit application and $75.00 fee to Florida Department of Education; meet specialization requirements (3 semester hours in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and drug use, 3 semester hours in coaching theory, 3 semester hours in theory and practice of coaching a specific sport); possess a valid CPR certificate (American Heart Association or American Red Cross); possess First Aid certification including AED training; be approved for employment and completed fingerprinting (FDLE/FBI) with results no older than one year.
