The Assistant Coach will carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Head Coach. This role involves instructing athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for achieving individual and team success. The position requires adherence to athletic policies, knowledge of regulations, and maintaining discipline within the sports program. Administrative duties include assisting with scheduling, transportation, event preparation, and coordinating with maintenance and school employees. The Assistant Coach is also responsible for providing necessary documentation for athlete eligibility and safeguarding equipment. Program responsibilities involve instructing team members on rule changes and sport fundamentals, maintaining team statistics, and working within the Head Coach's framework. The role also includes attending staff meetings, scouting, planning conditioning programs, and striving for professional improvement. Equipment and facilities management involves accountability for equipment, collecting costs for lost or unreturned items, arranging for issuing and storing equipment, and recommending budgetary items. The Assistant Coach will monitor equipment rooms and coaches' offices, permit athlete access to authorized areas at appropriate times, examine locker rooms for cleanliness, and secure the building when custodians are not present. The role instills in players respect for equipment and school property. The Assistant Coach supervises assigned athletes and assumes supervisory control over all athletes in the program when needed.
