About The Position

This position involves assisting head coaches in various secondary school athletic programs, specifically focusing on football for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires supporting the promotion of sports, planning and organizing practices, teaching fundamental skills and strategies, and instilling good sportsmanship. The assistant coach will also play a role in ensuring participant eligibility, providing guidance to student athletes, and recommending necessary equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law and 64 semester hours college credit.
• Proof of Adult CPR/First Aid/ AED Certification
• NFHS Coaching Principles Certification
• KRS 160.445– Heat Related Emergency Training
• Official transcripts and diplomas
• Coaches Code of Ethics Form
• Current W4 Form
• Current Medical Exam with TB test
• Criminal records check
• Copy of driver’s license and Social Security Card, verifying minimum age of 21 years old.

• Physical Restraint & Seclusion Training
• Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training
• KMA/KHSAA Sports Safety Course
• KHSAA Sport Specific Rules Clinic
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in promoting sports in the school and community.
• Assist the head coach in planning the athletic program.
• Assist the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
• Assist the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
• Assist the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self-control.
• Assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
• Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
• Conduct learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
• Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
