About The Position

The Assistant Coach - Football is responsible for supporting the head coach in all aspects of the football program. This includes assisting with practice planning and execution, game day operations, player development, and ensuring a positive and safe environment for student-athletes. The role requires a strong commitment to Christian principles and the ability to serve as a godly role model for students.

Requirements

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Must have good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure.
  • Has a positive attitude toward work ethic, learning, and development.
  • Self-motivated, creative, innovative, and strategic thinking ability.
  • Ability to work well with children of various ages.
  • Understands the importance of academic disciplines and issues.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance at practices, games, and other events.
  • Flexible and adaptive to change.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Basic knowledge of rules and fundamentals for sport.
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • TB clearance within the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  • Mandated Reporter Training Course.
  • Sexual Harassment Training Course.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching experience at middle school or higher level preferred.
  • Successful completion of NFHS “Fundamental of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses.
  • Other trainings as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting effective practices.
  • Support the head coach during games and other team events.
  • Contribute to the development of student-athletes, both athletically and spiritually.
  • Ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance at all team activities.
  • Follow verbal and written directions from the head coach and school administration.
  • Implement constructive feedback to improve coaching techniques and strategies.
  • Work efficiently and quickly under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards work ethic, learning, and development.
  • Exhibit self-motivation, creativity, innovation, and strategic thinking.
  • Work effectively with children of various ages.

  • Maintain necessary certifications and clearances (NFHS courses, First Aid/CPR, TB clearance, Fingerprint clearance, Mandated Reporter Training, Sexual Harassment Training).
