About The Position

The Assistant Club Manager supports the Club Manager in running a Planet Fitness club and helps create a welcoming, non-intimidating experience for members, prospective members, and guests. The role assists with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing staff; provides leadership and customer service; and supports club operations, reporting, and inventory. The position may require work at any Planet Fitness location within the Houston Fitness Partners franchise.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Willingness to become CPR/AED certified before employment and maintain certification while employed.
• Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
• Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and listening skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-resolution skills; hardworking, enthusiastic, and energetic.
• Ability to work third shift (overnight) alone if overnight staff is unavailable.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk continually throughout the club during a shift; some bending, twisting, and reaching are required.
• Able to encounter toxic chemicals and frequently clean and sanitize equipment and facilities.

Nice To Haves

• Previous work experience at Planet Fitness.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing Member Service Representatives, Overnight Member Services Representatives, and Fitness Instructors.
• Lead by example and maintain a welcoming atmosphere; ensure staff follow customer service guidelines.
• Resolve member concerns fairly and equitably.
• Assist with staff management and support the Club Manager with reporting, inventory, and other assigned duties.
• Help administer and enforce company policies and procedures with staff and members.
• Perform front-desk duties, including answering phones, assisting members, checking in members, and signing up new members.
• Facilitate member requests, issues, and questions.
• Ensure the gym opens and closes promptly and according to proper protocols.
• Oversee facility cleanliness and maintenance, including responsibility for the largest daily cleaning section.
• Help ensure the safety of employees, members, and club property.
• Identify and communicate equipment repairs in a timely manner.
• Work at any Planet Fitness location within the Houston Fitness Partners franchise as required.
