About The Position

Emory Division of Hospital Medicine, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine. This position is for an inpatient Hospital Medicine faculty physician NOCTURNIST for our Emory site(s): Emory University Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown or Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Georgia
  • Ability to obtain Emory University medical staff privileges

Responsibilities

  • Devote between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to scholarly activities, which may include authorship of manuscripts, participation in research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, and other scholarly activities.
  • Devote between 1% and 25% of total professional effort to teaching, which may include occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship.
  • Devote more than 75% of total professional effort to professional service as an inpatient Hospital Medicine physician.
  • Perform history and physical examinations of patients being admitted to the hospital.
  • Assess the acuity of hospitalized patients and ensure a proper level of care.
  • Perform bedside procedures as needed and credentialed for.
  • Provide consultations services for specialty provider partners.
  • Order consultations from specialty provider partners.
  • Initiate contact with primary care providers and teams in the outpatient setting to ensure appropriate continuity of care.
  • Work with trainees, which may include allied health professionals, on some months.
  • Adhere to clinical schedule in accordance with internal Division policy and procedures and according to actual clinical effort.
