About The Position

Reporting directly to the Specialized Transportation Director, the Assistant Bus Fleet Technician/Mechanic will perform mechanical service and maintenance of school buses or related equipment as assigned by the Bus Fleet Technician/Mechanic. This position will work full-time (8 hours per day) and year-round. Regular attendance is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
One year work experience in automotive repair and maintenance.
Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment.
Must possess a valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class C minimum, with passenger endorsement.
Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
Maintain Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class C, with passenger endorsement.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a public sector setting.
Experience working on buses.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and regular school bus safety inspections.
Change oil and filters, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearing and other assemblies.
Communicate effectively with staff.
Perform general tune-ups utilizing diagnostic equipment.
Repair and replace seats, latches, and other body components and assemblies.
Operate battery chargers, compression gauges, hoists, jacks, pumps, compressors, air tools, presses, air wrenches and other shop tools, equipment and machines require for performing repair and maintenance of motor vehicles.
Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Produce and maintain accurate and detailed records of fleet maintenance and service work.
Maintain a clean and organized shop and parts room.
May be required to drive bus routes on occasion.
Other Duties as assigned.
