Assistant Building Maintenance Mechanic
About The Position
The Jefferson County Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking an Assistant Building Maintenance Mechanic. The position is 40 hours per week. Primary duties include cleaning and custodial work, grounds maintenance, and the general upkeep of buildings. Applicants must meet one of the listed experience or equivalent training-and-experience qualifications and must hold a valid New York State motor vehicle license or otherwise demonstrate the ability to meet the job’s transportation needs. Applications are accepted until the position is filled; the first review of applicants is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Requirements
- One year of experience in general building construction, maintenance, or repair work in one or more standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or masonry; or three years of experience assisting in such work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience within the stated limits.
- Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the job.
