About The Position

Prince George County is seeking a Building Maintenance Mechanic to perform general building maintenance activities, operate equipment, and maintain and repair buildings. The work includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks.

Requirements

• General knowledge of maintenance, repair, and manual tasks in the assigned area.
• General knowledge of common hand tools and specialized power tools used in the work.
• General knowledge of the safe use, operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment used in the work.
• Skill in using assigned equipment.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
• Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, technical courses in electricity and electrical controls, and some experience as a semiskilled or skilled worker in maintenance, repair, and/or construction work.
• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Pre-employment drug testing, a physical examination, and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, are required.

Nice To Haves

• Electrical experience and a background in both single-phase and three-phase power are preferred.
