About The Position

The University of Texas at Austin's Facilities Services team is seeking an Assistant Building Attendant Leader to assist in the supervision of Building Attendant II staff. Requirements

  • One year in building cleaning and custodial work.
  • Experience in the use of custodial equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • More than one year of cleaning and custodial experience and supervision of custodial work.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand work orders, instructions, product labels, product directions, and other written job materials.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Building Attendant II staff, inspecting completed work for correctness and timeliness.
  • Provide basic instructions to employees and maintain clear communication.
  • Prepare administrative documents such as key logs, security logs, time reports, FAMIS entries, first reports of injury, inspection reports, supply orders, absence documentation, and training records.
  • Ensure services and event set-ups are delivered per instructions, schedule, and/or work order.
  • Conduct building inspections to ensure compliance with procedures and standards, and correctness of paperwork.
  • Document inspections and corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely reporting, notification, and follow-up of building maintenance and custodial issues.
  • Respond to customer complaints.
  • Abide by work rules, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, and follow the uniform policy.
  • Report to work on time and work effectively with others and independently.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety shoes, and safety equipment regularly, performing all tasks within established safety guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions and broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Safely operate custodial equipment.
  • Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and/or after cleaning as appropriate, following correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures.
  • Follow key control/access card procedures and guidelines, and carry UT ID at all times during work hours.
  • Ensure proper security measures are followed by employees, and report missing or lost equipment immediately.
  • Ensure all applicable exterior and interior doors are locked and secured, and alarms are set.
  • Ensure adherence to building and room unlocking and locking schedules, requests, and directives.
  • Ensure proper control of keys, access cards, and alarm codes.
  • Perform emergency cleaning, report repairs as needed, work events as requested, and act as a backup for Building Attendant Leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
