About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager oversees daily Bakery Department operations, maintaining standards for product quality, freshness, presentation, and customer service. The role supports bakery production, merchandising, department performance, and the hiring, training, coaching, and development of bakery associates. It is a fast-paced, hands-on position focused on customer experience, operational excellence, and department sales and freshness.

• Knowledge of food safety standards, temperature controls, allergen handling, and sanitation procedures.
• Knowledge of retail bakery operations and high-volume production environments.
• Ability to review sales, labor, and production data to inform departmental planning.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at various skill levels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in hot and cold temperature environments.
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable attendance and compliance with company safety policies and Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Bakery Department operations and ensure high standards for quality, freshness, presentation, and customer service.
• Foster a welcoming, customer-focused environment and resolve customer concerns and special orders.
• Plan and execute daily bakery production based on sales trends and seasonal demand.
• Execute merchandising plans, promotions, planograms, and seasonal programs.
• Manage department sales, labor, scheduling, ordering, inventory, and shrink.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Hire, train, coach, and develop bakery associates while promoting teamwork and accountability.
