About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports oversight of daily Bakery Department operations at Albertsons Companies. The role focuses on delivering high-quality bakery products and customer service while managing department freshness, presentation, sales, and operational performance in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment. The manager oversees and develops bakery associates, plans production, and ensures department practices meet food safety, sanitation, regulatory, and company requirements. Flexible availability is required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Knowledge of retail bakery operations and high-volume production environments.
• Ability to review sales, labor, and production data to inform departmental planning.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at various skill levels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in hot and cold temperature environments.
• Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable attendance and compliance with company safety policies and Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Bakery Department operations, ensuring high standards for quality, freshness, presentation, and customer service.
• Foster a welcoming, customer-focused environment and resolve customer concerns and special orders.
• Plan and execute daily bakery production based on sales trends and seasonal demand.
• Execute merchandising plans, promotions, planograms, and seasonal programs.
• Manage department sales, labor, scheduling, ordering, inventory, and shrink.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Hire, train, coach, and develop bakery associates while promoting teamwork and accountability.
