The Child Support Enforcement Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for its Rock Island office. This position offers substantial courtroom and litigation experience representing state agencies in courts throughout the region. Assistant Attorneys General in the Division primarily represent the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services in child support establishment, modification, and enforcement proceedings. Attorneys independently manage an assigned caseload, appear regularly in circuit courts in multiple counties, negotiate resolutions, prepare and respond to pleadings and motions, conduct legal research, and litigate contested evidentiary hearings. The Division also represents the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Department of Human Services in other civil matters involving public benefit programs and the recovery of funds owed to the State. Depending upon assignment, these matters may include administrative review actions, personal injury and estate lien recoveries, public assistance recovery matters, and other state and federal litigation.
