About The Position
Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individual to join their team as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a Non-Teaching Professional staff position within the Department of Athletics. The college, founded in 1953 and located in Upstate NY, offers over 80 degree and certificate programs and serves nearly 9,000 students across its Troy and Malta campuses. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution.
- National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certified (NATABOC).
- Eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
- Current certification in First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A deep appreciation for the collegiate athletic experience and its role in a college environment.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Non-traditional work schedule (nights & weekends).
- Willingness and ability to work outside and handle relevant equipment for such purposes.
- Unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Provide athletic training services for all NJCAA athletic programs, including daily practice and game coverage, coordinating treatments, and physician referrals.
- Work with the Athletic Trainer and Student Health Services to provide day-to-day general medical coverage for student-athletes.
- Maintain National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), NY State Licensure, and current CPR/AED certification, including completing required continuing education.
- Provide day-to-day athletic training services for all departmental sports offerings in injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries.
- Provide educational programs for student-athletes, coaches, and staff on general health, sports medicine trends, nutrition, and sports supplements.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records on each student-athlete, including insurance correspondence.
- Ensure all student athletes participating on HVCC athletic teams are medically eligible according to HVCC policies and NJCAA rules.
- Assist in the supervision and training of work-study students.
- Assist the Athletic Trainer in administering the secondary insurance program, including claims, tracking, monitoring, and correspondence.
- Assist with organizing department CPR/AED and Concussion Training.
- Assist with annual budget preparation, review, management, and make recommendations to the Athletic Trainer.
- Act as a key member of the Athletic Department’s risk management team and assume responsibility for risk management.
- Enforce and follow HVCC Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures.
- Learn and communicate relevant NJCAA Rules to act as a resource for the campus community and student athletes.
- Travel as needed on a limited basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Trainer.
