About The Position

The Division of Education at Mississippi State University's Meridian Campus is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor position. This role will primarily focus on teaching within the EdD program in Educational Policy & Organizational Design, commencing in Fall 2025. The Division of Education is recognized for its distinguished service and nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty. We offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, both on-campus and online, catering to the diverse academic needs of entry-level and seasoned professionals. Our offerings include traditional P-12 educational programs, school counseling, teacher leadership, school administration, and educational policy and organizational design. Additionally, we provide programs in community college education and clinical mental health counseling to serve community needs.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in an Education-Related Field
  • Demonstration of excellence in teaching (Associate Teaching Professor) or demonstration of potential for excellence (Assistant Teaching Professor).
  • ABD's will be considered.
  • Foundational Knowledge in Educational Policy and Leadership: Strong understanding of educational systems, policy implementation, organizational design, and organizational improvement efforts.
  • Relevant Professional Experience: Experience working in educational related settings, such as schools, districts, or policy organizations, with demonstrated involvement in leadership, reform, or program development.
  • Commitment to Teaching and Learning: Enthusiasm for teaching adult learners and a willingness to grow as an educator in a higher education setting. Ability to connect theory to practice in meaningful ways for working professionals.
  • Collaborative Disposition: Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team-oriented academic environment and engage with a broad student population.
  • Interest in Curriculum and Program Development: Willingness to contribute to the development and refinement of graduate-level coursework that prepares future leaders and policy professionals.
  • Mentoring Potential: Readiness to advise and support graduate students, particularly those working in professional settings, with a focus on helping them apply research and policy to real-world challenges.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills suited to professional and academic contexts.
  • Technological Readiness: Basic proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), video conferencing tools (e.g., Webex), and a willingness to learn and apply new instructional technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Experience with teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience teaching virtually or online
  • Ability to teach in another discipline in the Division of Education (e.g., Elem. Ed, Secondary Ed, Ed Administration).

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities will include graduate teaching and advisement, service and outreach.
  • Faculty work closely with area schools, community colleges, and non-profit agencies.
