About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, with a mission to advance knowledge through research, teaching, learning, community engagement, and public service, with a focus on student success and research excellence. This is a 9-month faculty appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across various modalities (face-to-face and online), mentoring students, and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires regular on-campus presence. The College of Education's mission is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals for leadership roles in a global society.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment.
• Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure.
• All specializations welcome.
• Current PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required.
• PreK–12 special education classroom experience.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses.

Nice To Haves

• Documented record of special education work in public schools.
• Ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our current programs.
• Educational Diagnostician Certification.

Responsibilities
