About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas. The university focuses on advancing knowledge through research, teaching, learning, community engagement, and public service, with an emphasis on student success and research excellence. This is a 9-month faculty appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor. The primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across various modalities (face-to-face and online), mentoring students, and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires regular on-campus presence. The College of Education's mission is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals for leadership roles in a global society.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment.
• Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure.
• All specializations welcome.
• Current PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required.
• PreK–12 special education classroom experience.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses.
• Documented record of special education work in public schools.
• Ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our current programs.
• Educational Diagnostician Certification.

Responsibilities

• Teaching across modalities, including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses.
