About The Position

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks candidates for the position(s) of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (Hematology/Oncology) in the Department of Pediatrics. UICOMP is a regional campus of one of the largest public medical schools in the United States, known for small class sizes and exceptional faculty mentorship. UICOMP Faculty members provide care to more than 45,000 patients annually and contribute to medical education and training for over 260 students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows annually. UICOMP healthcare partners include Jump Simulation, OSF Saint Medical Center, OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, and Carle Hearth Greater Peoria. UICOMP is also part of an R1 research institute with translational research focusing on Alzheimer dementia and oncology.

Requirements

  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
  • 3 years of Pediatrics Residency
  • 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
  • MD/DO or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Interest and experience in Leukemia/lymphoma is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed at the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood disorder Institute.
  • Assist in caring for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.
  • See referral hematology/oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.
  • Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents.
  • Participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
  • Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
  • Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols for oncology patients through the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.
