About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is undergoing growth and transformation, focusing on delivering high-value care, driving research and innovation, and cultivating excellence in medical education. The Division of Oncology is a dynamic and expanding program dedicated to patient care, research, and education, providing comprehensive cancer care across UTMB's hospitals. The division offers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services, multidisciplinary management of complex malignancies, and participation in innovative clinical trials. It is committed to advancing cancer care through research, education, and collaboration, working closely with other medical teams to deliver compassionate, patient-centered treatment. The Division also runs an ACGME-accredited Medical Oncology Fellowship Program and plays an active role in medical student and resident education.

UTMB is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Medical Oncology. This position emphasizes high-quality clinical cancer care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty dedicated to delivering exceptional oncology care, advancing clinical education, and participating in scholarly, quality improvement, and research activities.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

• Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development in oncology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient oncology care, including management of solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and supportive oncology care.
• Participate in chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and multidisciplinary tumor boards.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic oncology settings.
• Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including surgery, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and palliative care—for optimal patient outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and oncology-focused academic programs.
