The Tulane University School of Architecture and Built Environment (TuSABE) seeks multiple Assistant or Associate Professors in Architecture for tenure-track or tenured appointments. The program seeks candidates who can integrate their expertise into a coherent design pedagogy and demonstrate enthusiasm and strong qualifications for teaching core design studios and courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates with backgrounds in history and theory are welcome and should be able to translate those skills into compelling design studio pedagogy. The School is particularly interested in candidates with excellence in architectural design studio teaching and teaching, research, or creative practice in one or more of these areas: Computational Design, Digital Media, and Representation; Energy Modeling, Circularity, and Decarbonization; Digital Fabrication and Robotics; Building Tectonics and Structural Design; or Urban Design, Mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Spatial Data Analysis. One position will be shared between the Architecture and Sustainable Urbanism programs, with teaching responsibilities in urban mapping, digital media and representation, and architectural and urban design studios. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The expected start date is July 1, 2027. Faculty teach across TuSABE programs, collaborate with colleagues and other university departments, help develop curriculum, contribute to cross-disciplinary research initiatives, and serve on academic committees. Candidates are expected to pursue a clear agenda of design research, publications or scholarly writing, and creative production. Successful candidates will teach design studios, lectures, and seminar courses related to their expertise, including undergraduate and graduate studios, particularly in the core curriculum, and coursework in their area of expertise. TuSABE offers undergraduate and graduate Architecture programs and allied programs and degree paths, and supports community-engaged design, design-build, interdisciplinary research studios, and research initiatives focused on climate change and urbanism. The School is based in Richardson Memorial Hall in New Orleans, with studios, fabrication shops, classrooms, exhibition space, and offices. Tulane is a tier-one research university and an Association of American Universities member. The School emphasizes design, research, and practice in the built environment, interdisciplinary collaboration, social equity, and climate action.
