About The Position

Tulane University School of Architecture and Built Environment (TuSABE) seeks multiple Assistant or Associate Professors in Architecture in tenure-track or tenured positions. The Architecture program seeks candidates whose expertise supports a coherent design pedagogy and who are prepared to teach core design studios and courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates with backgrounds in history and theory are welcome, with an expectation that they can translate this expertise into design studio pedagogy. Areas of particular interest include computational design, digital media and representation; energy modeling, circularity and decarbonization; digital fabrication and robotics; building tectonics and structural design; and urban design, mapping, GIS and spatial data analysis. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The expected start date is July 1, 2027. Faculty teach across TuSABE’s Architecture programs and collaborate with other programs in the School. One position will be shared between Architecture and Sustainable Urbanism, with teaching responsibilities in urban mapping, digital media and representation, and architectural and urban design studios. Faculty are expected to contribute to curriculum development, cross-disciplinary research, and academic service, and to pursue a clear agenda of design research, scholarly writing and publications, and creative production. TuSABE offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Architecture and allied disciplines. Its initiatives include community-engaged design, design-build, interdisciplinary research studios, and research supported by the Center on Climate Change and Urbanism. The School is based in Richardson Memorial Hall in New Orleans, with studios, fabrication shops, classrooms, exhibition space, and offices. Tulane is a tier-one research university and an Association of American Universities member. The University and School emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, a welcoming community, social equity, and climate action.
