The Department of Philosophy at Furman University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Philosophy, beginning August 1, 2027. The area of specialization is History of Philosophy (Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, Arabic and Islamic Philosophy, or Early Modern Philosophy), with an open area of competence. The department has a need for courses across a wide range of pre-19th century contexts, so candidates who can teach in more than one historical period would be particularly welcome. The successful candidate will have broad philosophical interests and will be a dynamic and engaging teacher committed to working with students with diverse interests and backgrounds.
