About The Position

This position is responsible for the marketing and recruiting of the academic program, including developing marketing strategies and strategic planning to generate interest and enrollment. A critical aspect of the marketing function is developing corporate contacts to motivate interest and generate student applications, which requires personal contact with human resources personnel and/or technical managers, including visits to corporate sites, and organizing and presenting information sessions at remote locations. Recruitment efforts also include collaboration with other schools to promote higher education opportunities for working professionals, such as membership and participation in formal higher education alliance groups and attending education fairs. This position requires frequent travel throughout the state. Responsibilities include negotiating promotional contracts, developing promotional materials, and managing the program's internet presence. The position provides direction and guidance to the academic assistant on marketing, recruitment, and communications tasks. Additionally, the position is responsible for advising and guiding prospective students through the application process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of applications, handling fees, and confidential materials. It involves screening applicants for admissibility, encouraging applications, following up with prospective students, and assisting with application forms and procedures. The position evaluates transcripts and other application materials, conducts interviews, and advises on admission decisions. It also advises and counsels admitted students, resolves issues, and interacts with the Office of Admissions and the Graduate School. The associate director works with and advises the academic assistant in application and admissions processing activities. The position supports the Director in advancing the strategic growth of the program, managing capacity issues, implementing recommendations for new cohorts, and assisting in the development of growth opportunities. It develops and recommends policies, interprets and implements educational and administrative policies and regulations, and recognizes and implements new promotional and technological opportunities. The associate director provides direction and mentoring to the academic assistant regarding program procedures and practices. This position is responsible for budget preparation, monitoring and management of revenues and expenditures, calculating student program fees, invoicing, and accounting. It monitors payments and may enforce payment deadlines and implement collection activities. The associate director provides training and guidance to the academic assistant on fiscal and student account tasks. This position works with students and faculty to identify and respond to student needs by providing tools for learning and course completion, such as organizing study sessions and Q&A sessions, and facilitating professional tutoring services. It monitors faculty performance and advises the Director of cases where performance does not meet program standards. The associate director coordinates with and advises the academic assistant on student-facing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality student services and effective support for instructors. This position promotes alumni relations, fosters networking opportunities, and acts as a liaison for students and alumni with potential employers and the Career Connection Center. The associate director may delegate operational tasks to the academic assistant and provide feedback and mentoring. This position functions for the OEM Program Director in their absence, as required. The position is responsible for planning and implementation of all program events, including monthly class meetings, study sessions, orientation, graduation events, and social receptions. The associate director provides leadership, priorities, and mentoring to the academic assistant in planning and executing these events. This position is responsible for ensuring that classes are delivered smoothly and efficiently, coordinating classroom and facility requirements, course materials, student access, and other operational details.

Requirements

  • AST DIR, Academic Support Svcs: Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
  • ASO DIR, Academic Support Svcs: Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.

  • A technical degree is preferred.

Responsibilities
