About The Position

Northeastern University is a national leader in cooperative education, where students alternate between academic study and work experiences. The Office of the Chancellor is seeking a Co-op Faculty Coordinator to work with students, with an initial focus in Bouve College of Health Sciences. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position. The successful candidate will join a team of highly motivated, professional, experienced, and collaborative individuals who provide an outstanding cooperative education program in the health sciences and public health.

Requirements

A master’s degree in college student development, counseling, education, psychology or a health science/public health related field is required by the appointment start date.
A minimum of three years work experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Comfort presenting to diverse audiences.
Experience working with a varied staff and/or student population.
Proficiency in computer/technology and database maintenance.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Knowledge and appreciation of cooperative education and/or experiential learning and its impact on an individual’s career development.
Ability to effectively engage a diverse network of global stakeholders, across time zones.

Nice To Haves

An academic degree in a related health profession.
Experience in career development and counseling of students.
Professional experience within the health industry.
Experience as a career coach (certification preferable, but not required).
Experience working with an international student population.
Teaching experience in a classroom environment.

Responsibilities

Educates students through their career development, advising, and coaching, developing and delivering effective teaching and coaching programs.
Works with students one-on-one, in workshops, and in the classroom, teaching a career education course each semester and coaching students through group and individual meetings.
Prepares classroom content including interviewing skills, professional behavior and communication, workplace ethics, leadership skills, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence development.
Maintains contact with students during their co-op experience and works with them through their post-co-op reflection.
Collaborates with academic faculty, administration, and the co-op community to guide students in integrating their co-op and academic experiences.
Shares knowledge of industry with academic faculty to integrate employment-based learning with curriculum-based learning.
Develops new partnerships and expands current employer programs by engaging with managers, human resources contacts, and alumni.
Engages in lifelong learning to develop and maintain a current understanding of the industry, employers, and positions.
Conducts site visits to new and existing employers, outreaches to potential new co-op employer partners, and actively participates in relevant professional organizations.
Engages in service to the Cooperative Education department, Bouve College of Health Sciences, and Northeastern University.
Makes presentations to prospective students and newly admitted students.
Participates on committees and task forces.
Serves as an advisor to student organizations.
