About The Position

The Assistant Area Coordinator works directly with the professional Residence Life Staff, Resident Assistants, and on campus students and will provide support to the Area Coordinator in a particular residential area on campus. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of a specific residence hall or halls, supervising Resident Assistants, and assisting with programming and budget management. The position also includes participation in an on-call rotation for crisis response, assisting with RA training and selection, serving as a student conduct hearing officer, and providing office support. Collaboration with campus partners and support for housing operations are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a CSP, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration program preferred.
  • Non-matriculated students engaged in appropriate coursework may be considered.
  • Prior residence life experience, a positive attitude and awareness of social justice principles are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a specific residence hall or residence halls of students living in college housing.
  • Directly supervise and evaluate 5-7 Resident Assistants (RA).
  • Assist with the overall development, planning, and implementation of programming pertaining to Residence Life’s residential curriculum.
  • Assist Area Coordinator with managing area budget.
  • Participate in the administrator on-call rotation for approximately three weeks per semester and actively respond to a wide range of crises situations.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of RA trainings, in-services, and RA selection via departmental committee structure.
  • Serve as a student conduct hearing officer and hear cases as assigned by Community Standards.
  • Assist with RA recognition efforts.
  • Provide office support by working 5 hours per week at the front desk of the Student Life Suite assisting with housing related projects.
  • Liaise and collaborate with campus partners including Facilities, Wellness, and Student Conduct.
  • Supports Housing Operations with move-in move-out.
  • Attend weekly professional staff meetings (date and time TBD) and weekly student staff meetings from 4:30-6:30pm on Monday nights.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.
