About The Position

Lexus of Wilmington is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accounting Manager to join their team. This role provides fiduciary support in maintaining accounting records through data entry, bookkeeping, and other accounting functions related to general business operations. The position requires discretion and independent judgment in processing and generating financial data for all dealership departments to accurately reflect the business's financial condition. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of various accounting and administrative functions.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, or a minimum of 2+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepares ad-hoc management reports and financial analysis
  • Prepares complete and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership guidelines and manufacturers’ format and time frame requirements
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts
  • Controls all posted documents, including time records, vehicle deals, commissions, and inventory additions/adjustments
  • Prepares daily cash position report
  • Prepares daily sales activity report
  • Maintains and reconciles petty cash accounts
  • Provides a timely daily operating control (DOC) and keeps the senior management informed about trends
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts
  • Approves adjustments to inventory and receivable accounts
  • Ensures that all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest, protection, and co-op advertising accounts are current and accurate
  • Prints monthly journals, schedules, and general ledger
  • Closes month by processing accounting month-end
  • Assists in completion of annual review/audit
  • Ensures compliance with all government regulations
  • Stays abreast of current factory incentives and codes deliveries on dealership computer system accordingly
  • Reviews sales commission/chargeback detail reports
  • Manages the payoff of vehicle floor plan and works with bank representatives
  • Oversees collection of past due accounts
  • Compiles information and prepares ad-hoc reports as requested by senior management
  • Maintains a professional appearance
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to calculate figures and apply mathematical concepts
  • Self-Starter with proven ability to seek out new ways to build opportunities for the dealership and customer satisfaction
  • High level of initiative and ability to work in a team
  • Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software, internet proficiency and general mathematic skills
