The Asset Protection Officer provides a visible, welcoming presence that helps create a safe, secure, and service-focused shopping environment. The role is stationed at store entrances, high-traffic areas, and high-shortage locations to help deter theft, identify potential risks, support customer and colleague safety, and partner with store teams to provide a positive experience. The officer supports asset protection and shortage reduction, assists with apprehensions under the direction of Asset Protection leaders, Captains, or Detectives, and documents theft, accidents, audits, and other incidents. The role also involves conducting assigned operational audits and Asset Protection tasks, responding calmly to incidents and medical situations, helping facilitate basic first aid, and providing testimony in legal proceedings when needed. Officers must follow company policies and legal standards concerning apprehensions, searches, evidence handling, and confidential information. The position requires prolonged standing and walking, occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, the ability to apprehend shoplifters, and the ability to spend long periods in enclosed surveillance areas. It frequently involves lifting or moving up to 30 pounds. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled for 30 or more hours per week. Schedules include weekend shifts; hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.
