About The Position

The Asset Protection Manager is a leadership role responsible for maintaining and monitoring asset protection, security, compliance, and safety functions within a Bass Pro Shops facility. When required, the manager leads Asset Protection Specialists in support of the company’s mission to reduce shrink, maintain accurate inventory and compliance, and provide a safe and secure environment for employees and customers. The role partners with facility leadership, employees, and corporate teams to implement asset protection programs and address sources of loss. It includes investigating criminal activity, policy violations, accidents, and other incidents; managing security systems and teams; overseeing firearms-process compliance; and supporting safety, environmental, regulatory, and PCI compliance initiatives. The manager prepares timely, detailed reports and exercises independent day-to-day judgment within established operational goals. Travel is less than 25%.

Requirements

Five years of experience in facility security or asset protection.
Demonstrated experience conducting criminal, internal, or related investigations.
Experience using physical security systems such as CCTV and EAS.
Experience conducting quality reviews or audits.
Current AHA First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Ability to regularly perform computer work, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally sit.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Environmental Safety, or a related field from an accredited institution.
National certified training program, such as Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training; Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI); or Loss Prevention Certified/Qualified (LPC/LPQ).

Responsibilities

Build working relationships with store or distribution center leadership and employees to support asset protection programs and business objectives.
Develop commitment to asset protection programs among facility management and employees in partnership with corporate office partners.
Analyze cycle counts, trailer audits, known loss, vendor compliance opportunities, and exception reports to identify root causes of shrink.
Identify and investigate criminal activity, policy violations, illicit behavior, workplace accidents, and instances of loss.
Monitor criminal cases, appear in court, and testify when warranted.
Plan and implement changes to mitigate shrink and security risks and resolve internal and external loss investigations.
Ensure full compliance with firearms processes, procedures, and policies.
Confirm that over- and short-shipments are investigated and resolved between distribution centers and stores.
Provide leadership visibility into shrink through monthly cycle count initiatives, audits, or inventories.
Maintain and appropriately leverage asset protection and security systems.
Identify, follow up on, and resolve security, safety, environmental, and regulatory issues proactively or as assigned, in coordination with the GM and facility management team.
Maintain asset protection records according to policy and support PCI compliance initiatives with IT.
Promote safety programs, support safe work procedures, and participate on the safety committee.
Manage the asset protection and/or security team to maintain physical security and merchandise protection standards.
Assist in training the asset protection and/or security team on acceptable shoplifting-related policies and procedures.
Conduct apprehensions of suspected shoplifters when authorized and trained in accordance with company policy and procedures.
Prepare detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
