About The Position

As an Asset Protection Detective at Macy’s, you will help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. You will use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. The role combines observation, investigation, de-escalation, documentation, and collaboration while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment and following company policies and legal requirements. The position requires prolonged standing and walking around the store or department, and may involve working for extended periods in enclosed surveillance areas. You may occasionally reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and must be able to apprehend shoplifters and frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds. The role also requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Macy’s describes its workplace as dynamic and inclusive, with opportunities for continuous learning, leadership development, colleague resource groups, and volunteer activities. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled 30 or more hours per week; schedules include weekend shifts, and hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.
