About The Position

As an Asset Protection Detective, you help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. You use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and protect customers, colleagues, and the business. The role helps reduce loss while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation. You use sound judgment and company procedures, prepare documentation and evidence, and may testify in court or respond to alarms and special assignments. You may also facilitate first aid when needed. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. Schedules include weekend shifts, and hours depend on business needs and colleague availability. This position is at Southland Mall in California.

Requirements

Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
Ability to use sound judgment, de-escalation tools, and company procedures to support a safe environment.
Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.
Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
Ability to sustain long periods in enclosed surveillance areas.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; occasionally reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch; and frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.
Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Use surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends.
Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement on investigations and asset protection.
Use de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Prepare clear documentation, statements, evidence, and timely reports to support investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
Train colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
Identify, investigate, and respond to theft and dishonest activity.
Use surveillance to support the apprehension of shoplifters and dishonest employees while following company policies and legal requirements.
Recover stolen merchandise and provide statements, evidence, and documentation to support investigations.
Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards related to apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation.
Testify in criminal and civil court cases as needed.
Respond to alarm calls, support special assignments, and facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues when needed.
Foster an environment of acceptance and respect with colleagues, customers, and communities.
