About The Position

The Assessment Manager owns and maintains a trustworthy, institution-wide assessment system that shows what students know, identifies where support is needed, and helps determine whether instruction is producing intended outcomes. The role coordinates assessment administration and provides instructors, learners, and leaders with timely, dependable evidence to guide instruction, learner goals, interventions, and program improvement. The position oversees placement, diagnostic, formative, summative, credential-readiness, and required external assessments. It verifies that assessment tools and practices are appropriate to the skills measured and the adult learner population, and promotes accessible, fair administration with appropriate accommodations, consistent scoring, and transparent limits on interpretation. The manager analyzes results across courses, programs, learner groups, and terms; links comparable results to measure individual academic growth; and keeps growth distinct from attendance, course completion, and credential pass rates. The Assessment Manager trains staff, supports assessment literacy and continuous improvement, maintains secure and auditable records, and partners with instructors and data staff to connect findings to instructional and student-support actions. The position is the operational owner of approved assessment and testing platforms and coordinates their rosters, accommodations, testing windows, security, score retrieval, vendor relationships, and reconciliation with learner records. The role is in Academic Affairs, reports to the Chief Academic Officer, and directly supervises the Assessment Coordinator and any assigned assessment staff, proctors, or temporary testing personnel. It is full-time and exempt, campus based in Washington, DC, with a salary band of $80,000–$110,000 annually. The work is primarily campus and office based, involves sustained computer use and frequent interaction with staff, students, vendors, or partners, and may require some evening, weekend, or off-site work. Essential duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
