About The Position

Purpose of Position Assembles electronic components, wire wrap cards, assemble modules, hydraulic pumps, subassemblies, equipment boards, harnesses, panels, power supplies and cables.

  • Thorough knowledge and use of all applicable electronic assembly hand tools.
  • Automatic and manual, Crimpers, Luggers, Wire strippers

Responsibilities

  • Competent in subject matter, principles, knowledge, and concepts; generally considered a specialist in area.
  • Able to perform full scope of activities associated with job which includes the most difficult aspects.
  • Able to train complex skills to lower level technicians.
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial quality specification.
  • Work and rework of prototype items and regular production items.
  • Works with engineering to develop new techniques or to resolve difficult and unusual problems, makes recommendation for fixtures and production aids.
  • Contributes suggestions for changes in design or procedures as related to production improvements.
  • Ability to plan and organize department work as needed, may be required to work in the capacity of department lead as needed.
  • Crimpes, stakes, screws, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Mounts assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, on chassis panel.
  • Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Assembles and attaches hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches, to assemblies.
  • Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color coding parts and assemblies.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Performs on-line- go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
