About The Position

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Temporary Assay Lab Sample Bucker at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour, day shift schedule. Requirements

  • Post secondary education with Technical Diploma or Science Degree
  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality systems
  • Intermediate computer skills with MS office and LIMS
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
  • Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • High work ethics, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
  • Positive can-do attitude with a willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multitasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, heavy lifting, awkward positions, walking and standing
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have access to personal transportation
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements

Responsibilities

  • Practice Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture in the Quality Department by participating in safety meetings and upholding company policies and procedures
  • Follows all Company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform pre- analytical procedures such as sample preparation, processing and organizing
  • Perform routine and non-routine analysis of samples to determine mineral properties
  • Maintain accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment
  • Perform routine inspections on laboratory equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required
  • Maintain good record keeping of lab results, calibrations and preventive maintenance
  • Identifies and records any abnormal observations in the process, reporting them to the supervisor
  • Ensure that work order documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Input data using relevant computer software programs
  • Perform other duties as required.
