About The Position

This is a seasonal position, allowing individuals to use their winters off for travel, hunting, fishing, or other activities while their benefits continue year-round. The role involves completing various laborer and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt paving projects. The position also includes driving crew trucks and pulling trailers with equipment from job sites to job sites. Typical hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with Saturday as needed, and hours may vary depending on weather and customer demand.

Requirements

  • Equipment maintenance & operation
  • CDL Class A, required
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform labor tasks including measuring distance from grade stakes, driving stakes & stretching tight lines.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
  • Level earth using pick or shovel (Aggregate or asphalt).
  • Level blacktop using lute.
  • Raise manhole covers.
  • Perform flagging duties as needed.
  • Operate small powered hand tools.
  • Operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, or roller or move from one site to another.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) and operate small equipment, such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor/packer, steel drum or rubber tire roller.
  • Remove road joints.
  • Hook up and un-hook small trailer to pick-up.
  • Fill sand-bags.
  • Operate skid steer for clean-up of materials.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
  • Be self-motivated, a team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
